The consultancy required professional and polished content to aid agricultural businesses in navigating critical challenges, particularly in the context of farm succession planning and business resilience. While external experts had prepared preliminary information for five themes, the material varied significantly in quality, readability, and style. There was a clear need for consistency and alignment with the program’s style guidelines, as well as an emphasis on producing content that was both visually engaging and easily comprehensible for a broad audience.

Farm Business Resilience Information Products
Introduction
A consultancy firm engaged BlueSalt Consulting to develop and refine a suite of information products to support their delivery of the Western Australian State Government’s WA Farm Business Resilience Program. The primary focus was on creating a multipage document addressing best practices in farm succession planning, as well as transforming expert-generated material on five additional themes into accessible and engaging fact sheets for agricultural businesses.

Situation
Solution
Our team employed a multifaceted approach to address the consultancy’s needs:
- Succession Planning Document: Drawing on research and expertise from prior projects, we developed a comprehensive, multipage document that integrated infographics and succinct text. This document outlined best practices in farm succession planning, making complex concepts digestible for readers.
- Fact Sheet Transformation: We meticulously reviewed the existing materials for the additional themes, identifying areas that required clearer communication or supplementary information. Collaborating closely with each subject-matter expert, we refined and finalised the content, ensuring it adhered to the program’s stylistic and communicative standards.
- Visual Design: To enhance engagement, all documents featured a blend of infographics and text, creating visually appealing and informative products tailored to the agricultural sector’s needs.

Outcome
The project resulted in the creation of six high-quality information products, each spanning four A4 pages. These materials were:
- Aligned with the WA Farm Business Resilience Program’s style guidelines.
- Designed to be informative yet accessible, helping agricultural businesses address specific challenges effectively.
- Enhanced with a mix of text and infographics to improve readability and engagement.
The consultancy successfully utilised these resources to support their delivery of the program, empowering agricultural stakeholders with practical and actionable insights.
